Big Daddy Ds is a locally owned roadside hotdog stand offering specialty hotdogs and a variety of flavors of hand-dipped ice cream. The hotdog stand is run by Jacob McCumbers, his 3 sons, and his parents.
Their homemade hotdog sauce comes from Jacob’s grandmother’s secret special recipe. The slaw is homemade, as are the sauces used for the Audrey Dog, which got its name from his aunt, who is battling cancer.
The building itself was hand-made by the McCumbers who is collecting license plates from all 50 states. He offers a free “Big Daddy D Special” to individuals who bring them a plate that they do not have.
The hotdog stand offers a chance for a Case knife every day. Jacob is known to purchase knives for individuals and organizations to raffle to help out the community, his way to assist those in need.
The hotdog stand is a seasonal place to eat, open from May through the start of September, 11 am-6 pm Tuesday-Saturday. They will be closing on August 31st so don’t miss out on this year’s specialty dogs!
They will be adding an outside covered area with picnic tables for the 2025 season. They are grateful to all their loyal customers in this, their first open season, and hope you’ll check out their Facebook or Google page, “Big Daddy Ds.”
If you have yet to stop on Route 33 at the intersection of Henry’s Fork Road, you need to stop by and give them a try. Their motto is, “The best wiener in Arnoldsburg.” From their Facebook comments and feedback, their customers agree.
